Our church family is a small, friendly, and close-knit congregation located in a mountain resort community with highly seasonal attendance patterns. On a typical Sunday, we have about 20 year-round local attendees and an additional 20 part-year residents during the warmer months. Our people come from diverse denominational backgrounds—including Catholic, Presbyterian, Baptist, and Pentecostal—and most are retirees.
Despite our size, the church is warm, generous, and genuinely caring. Many attendees have second homes in the area, so their rhythms of hospitality often affect attendance: sometimes they bring visiting family to church, and sometimes they are absent because they are hosting family or friends.
Two-thirds of our regular participants are between ages 65 and 80, with only a few under age 50. The congregation values biblical preaching, especially sermon series rooted in books of the Bible or extended passages like the Sermon on the Mount. We also have strong support for missions through our Christian & Missionary Alliance identity.
One of our greatest strengths is our Wednesday night dinner and discussion. This small group (8–12 people) is marked by transparency, deep relationships, and genuine spiritual conversation. Within our regular year-round attenders—roughly 10–12 people—there is strong commitment and willingness to serve, though this small group shoulders nearly all the volunteer responsibilities due to the seasonal nature of the wider congregation.
The primary challenges are irregular attendance, limited volunteer capacity, and travel difficulties. Commuting in our region involves long, winding mountain roads, winter hazards, and often 20–30-minute drives even for those who live nearby. Most seasonal attenders do not volunteer outside of Sunday morning services and activities.

We are currently receiving applications. While we are committed to moving as swiftly as the Holy Spirit leads, our priority is finding the right shepherd rather than meeting a specific deadline. We anticipate reviewing applications beginning in March.
For the congregation and visitors
-
We are blessed to have three elders who are able to provide Sunday morning sermons and lead Wednesday evening prayer and discussions. We also have visiting speakers, including missionaries the church supports, and other friends of the church. This is a wonderful season to hear different perspectives while we wait for our permanent pastor.

Yes! The committee has five members, including two church elders and three church members.
-
Yes! Once the search committee and Elders have identified the final candidate, we will host a finalist weekend, where the pastor candidate will give a sermon, and be available for the congregation to meet and ask questions.

The most important thing you can do is pray. Please pray for the committee’s discernment, for the man God is already preparing to lead us, and for our church to remain unified during this transition.
